Lightning Risk (Bad Weather)

In the event of rain, lightning, thunder, or any combination of the foregoing, the instructor may in his or her absolute discretion cancel the class. Such a decision may be made before or during the class.

In classes conducted in condominiums, clients should inform the coach in advance of at least an hour if they wish to reschedule the class. No notice or communication given in any form and coach had traveled will be considered a lesson conducted.

For classes canceled before the coach had traveled. In a case like this, instructors in his or her absolute discretion can choose to replace the classes with 3 sessions of 15 mins extensions to complete one 45 minutes class or a full replacement class based on his or her own schedule.

If the class is allocated to do 15 mins extensions on that day coach should reach on time. The class will be considered 1 hour done, regardless of any reason be it class stopped early due to bad weather, etc.

The instructor may, at his or her absolute discretion, decide to continue with the class if the rain is light, and there are no reports of thunder or lightning in Singapore.

Classes will be halted immediately if there are reports of lightning strikes in Singapore. In the event that lightning strikes lead to the cancellation of a class conducted halfway, no replacement will be given and the lesson will be deemed done.

The coach may on his goodwill do an extension of 15 mins on the next lesson if the class had just started lesser than 10 minutes.

If the class happens to fall on the day the coach is supposed to do extensions of 15 mins. The class will be considered 1 hour done, as the coach had reserved the timeslot for the extension.

In determining whether there have been reports of thunder or lightning in Singapore, Friendly Dolphin Swim School shall be entitled to take reference from the NEA-MSS Lightning Alert website or the MYENV app.

At Public Pools (Bedok, Pasir Ris, and Tampines Swimming Complexes) a dryland training program shall be run in lieu of the swim class.

Pools (public swimming complex/condominiums) may be closed due to lightning risk. The pool management team has the decision to close the pool due to lightning risk.

If you need to know the closure status, please consult the pool management and not the instructor.

Replacement Classes

Replacement lessons will be provided prior to approval from the school for clients who cancel with at least an hour’s notice.

In such instances, teachers might choose to replace the classes with three 15-minute extensions to finish one 45-minute class or a full replacement class based on their own schedule.

If the class is scheduled to do 15-minute extensions that day, the coach should arrive on time. The lesson shall be considered completed after one hour, regardless of whether it was canceled early due to inclement weather, etc.

Full replacement class dependent on teacher availability: All four lessons must be completed within 35 days of the first. Any unfinished lessons will be forfeited without compensation.

Refund Policy

Upon commencement of lessons, all fees paid are non-refundable. Request for refund of school fees requires written notification to the school at least fourteen days before the commencement of the lessons.

If the request is made less than fourteen days before the first lesson, a cancellation charge of $35 will apply.

As we offer a service, we do not generally issue refunds after lessons. However, refunds will be granted at the sole discretion of Friendly Dolphin Swim School.

Changing Class Time and Venues

If you wish to change your child or ward’s class time or venue, please inform us at info@swimclasses.com.sg as early as possible. We are generally unable to change your child or ward’s allocated time slot after successful enrolment as our classes are often full.

Nevertheless, we may be able to place your child or ward on the waitlist for other classes. In the event that there are no alternate venues or time slots available, we may place your child or ward on our waitlist until a venue or time slot becomes available.

Safety Matters

The following rules must be adhered to strictly at all times;

Noise is to be kept to a minimum to avoid distracting the children undergoing classes in the pool.

Always wait for the instructor to ask you to enter the pool.

Before entering the pool, please allow children from the previous class to exit the pool.

No running around the pool area.

Be attentive and adhere to instructions given by the instructor at all times.

Take care of and do not damage any pool equipment.

Going underwater impairs children’s ability to listen to instructions. For safety reasons, children should not go underwater unless the instructor asks them to do so.

Keep your hands and feet to yourself, we don’t know where they have been!

Our instructors are all certified and carry a high level of responsibility to ensure the safety of all students in the water.
