SWIMMING LESSONS FOR TODDLERS SINGAPORE COURSE OVERVIEW

Swimming Lessons For Toddlers Singapore | Course

The earlier your child learns to swim, the more comfortable he or she will be in the water and how to keep safe in the water.

The friendly dolphin kids and toddlers program allows babies and toddlers as young as six months to begin swimming.

Our Newborns and Toddlers program teaches babies and toddlers how to breathe and swim back to the wall for their safety. Playing games and singing songs with us is a lot of fun and instructive for the kids.

The program’s purpose is for each youngster to feel happy and safe in the water.

Our friendly and experienced swim coaches lead the Babies & Toddlers session, which is parent-accompanied.

  • Swimming lessons for toddlers provide children with the opportunity to learn about swimming. The greatest moment to avoid any unwanted water phobias in the future.
  • Toddlers gain aquatic confidence in a safe and welcoming atmosphere. Toddlers will be exposed to water and begin to develop water confidence through safe and simple locomotor walking abilities.
  • Water familiarization is going underwater and being comfortable with surface submersion, such as blowing bubbles.
  • Progression of entry and exit skills – from utilizing a ladder to entering without assistance and ultimately jumping in.
  • Be at ease with water on your face, plunging underwater, and controlling your breathing. Understand what to do if their face is buried in water.
  • Introduction of floating skills such as front and back star float performance.
  • When it comes to floating exercises for toddlers, parental supervision is vital.
  • Gliding as well as stationary propulsion. Stationary propulsion is defined as moving hands and legs in the water without moving forward or backward (treading water)
  • Treading water is critical for water safety; it helps pupils feel secure and at ease in an aquatic setting.
  • Toddlers will learn submersion and gradually be able to conduct a safe immersion.
  • Parental education, supervision, water familiarization, and early independence are all important.
  • At no time should force be utilized in toddler swimming training.
  • Water safety programs centered on games, activities, and play for emotional, physical, social, and cognitive development.
  • The premise of the toddler swimming program focuses solely on water confidence and aquatic skill development.

FAQs

It will be good for parents/guardians to be in the pool for both baby and toddler swimming lessons. Babies and toddlers between the age group of 1-4 will be more receptive, less scared and more willing to try swimming activities.

As they are in different categories, we recommend conducting the class separately. We will suggest a back to back lesson for your children. The swimming sessions plans used for babies, toddlers, and kids swimming lessons are different.

Friendly Dolphin Swim School does not advise toddlers joining kids groups as kids categorized 5 years old and above follow a different curriculum. Toddlers at age 4, and below might not be so receptive to instructions.

They might not follow the class as well, therefore, slowing both the pace for learning to swim progression.

Decisions still lie with the parents, the school will evaluate and allow on a case by case basis.

You need to have your own swim gear, goggles and float board for the first lesson. Your swimming instructor will inform you of any if in doubt after first swimming lesson.

Our instructors conducting kids classes are fully qualified with the relevant certifications from the Singapore Sports Council and Singapore Swimming Teachers’ Association. They are trained and experienced in conducting swimming lessons for kids.

You are welcome to register a package that offers a minimum of 12 lessons. You may refer to Kid Swimming Lessons for more information. We are sorry that we do not offer single trial class at the moment.

Testimonials

“Very good course as a parent who do not know how to swim. The school uses a simple program that is proven very highly effective for my babies. The teachers in this school are knowledgeable and had done many researches always finding new methods to engage the kids. I believe that my baby are now happier in water, with better developed motor skills to move around freely. I am glad and find less worried now even if she fell into the water. She can now twist and turn herself in the pool floating to grasp air! High recommend Friendly Dolphin Swim School”

Important message for all parents/students/guardians

  • Baby might not be immediately happy in the water and usually need a lot of coaxing, loving focused encouragement without any pressure.
  • Always keep in mind that the progressions for babies and toddlers is slow. Keep the goals in long term while enjoying the short and long term benefits of early swimming. The focus should first be put on mutual enjoyment.
  • Avoid putting pressure on the achievement and embracing quick results. Both of which are actually counter productive for all swimming lessons.
  • Create a pleasurable associations when the babies are exposed to water even if they cries. Be mindful not to display negative reactions and words when they cries or jump into conclusion that they do not like water.
  • Be positive, parents who are not confident in water can still help their babies in the learning to swim process, it is a good positive step!
  • Avoid snacking before going into swimming pool, the snacks can be consumed after swimming.
  • Parents have to take close eyes and watch that the babies do not drink too much water during the lessons. This will avoid water intoxication and is usually very rare for a 30 minutes sessions of different exercises.
