Yio Chu Kang Swimming Complex
Yio Chu Kang swimming complex started operation on July 1st, 1986, and is managed by Sport Singapore.
It is a public swimming complex situated between the northeast side of Singapore. The pool sits just beside Nanyang Polytechnic separate by the polytechnic carpark and industrial area on the right side.
History
Yio Chu Kang is a development area that started in 1980.
A developed region that is filled up with schools, food centers, hospitals with high rise buildings on the south, and greenery.
Transport
There is no need for the bus to Yio Chu Kang Swimming Complex. Drop off from Yio Chu Kang MRT station and go to the Yio Chu Kang swimming complex within a short walking distance.
If you are traveling from Ang Mo Kio, buses like 86 and 853 are both available to board at the Ang Mo Kio MRT Station. The ride will go through 5 stops and you can alight at the fifth stop, opposite Yio Chu Kang station, and walk 351 meters towards the Yio Chu Kang swimming complex.
Yio Chu Kang bus interchange is undergoing an expansion and all boarding berths are relocated to the newly expanded site from 17 November 2019. However, there will be no change to existing alight berths and operation details.
Crowded Pool
The pool is crowded usually during the weekends. During the weekdays, it is filled up with kids and the elderly taking swimming lessons and doing leisure swim. It is generally less crowded after office time from 6-8 pm on weekdays. If you are looking for serenity, you can try doing swim at these hours.
After Swimming
Sakura buffet house can be found behind the swimming complex. It offers some of the best Japanese cuisines in Singapore.
