Katong swimming complex is an old swimming complex filled with all the essential facilities for recreation and swim training. It was first open on 1st of September 1975 and remain the private property to the Singapore Sports Council. Entry into this pool is prohibited unless it is authorized such as during operation hours of this swimming complex.

There are competition pool, training and wading pools for family activities and swimming lessons. The pools here are ideal for beginner and intermediate swimming lessons. The pool entrance is closed with a metal grey gate during non operational hours and a gantries are found before entering the pool. Seating capacity of up to 250 pax and every pool attended by 2 lifeguards at all time.

One of the significant things found in this pool is the water animals design you won’t be able to see in some of the more recent designed swimming pools in Singapore. Most of the fences and gates are colored in green, yellow and grey. All this bright colors will definitely brighten your swimming lesson and recreational swimming.

Swimmers and students can now enter the pool by purchasing tickets through the ACTIVE SG application or scan their identification cards at the gantry with the scanner sections. This system had made it so much more convenient compared to before. Paying with coins during the 1990s was so inconvenient for most of us when it is so heavy and not readily found.

Katong swimming complex is situated conveniently beside some of the older landed properties. Old HDBs built during the 1980s can also be found opposite the swimming complex within walking distance after crossing the bridge, behind SPC and ESSO petrol stations.

The nearest hawker centre for food before and after swimming will be the famous old airport road food centre around 3 minutes driving distance away. Those into fast foods, Macdonalds and KFC  are within walking distance after crossing the bridge separated by Geylang River. If you find it a hassle with all the walking and distances, just opposite the swimming complex in the Goodman Arts Centre, there is a cafe, with the name cafe melba for quick and nice western foods.

Cafe Melba beside being the most convenient dropoff for food, customers driving can park inside the Goodman Arts Centre as well. There are few parking lots available in katong swimming complex, during peak period such as saturday and sunday. Goodman Arts Centre will be a second alternative to provide parking for vehicles.

There is a small soccer field build for all the young kids at Cafe Melba, so if you are looking for somewhere to go for land based activities, this will be a great place to go after swimming.
